We are at a unique moment in time: Recognition of Oregon’s housing challenges extends across political parties, age, class, and region—and there has never been more public support for enacting solutions.
1000 Friends of Oregon is a leader in research and advocacy on housing solutions. In the past decade, 1000 Friends has focused on antidisplacement strategies, middle housing, and more—building on over 50 years of work on housing, one of Oregon’s 19 land use goals—and we’re here to share what we know works to address housing needs in communities across Oregon.
This Housing Solutions Center is designed to provide evidence-based information and message-tested communications to ensure you and your neighbors are working together effectively—including sharing your housing stories. We provide resources for community advocates, public officials, and developers to make meaningful change. And we always tie it back to the big picture:
Finding win-win solutions to meet the housing needs of all Oregonians in every community—including affordability, fairness, accessibility, and environmental stewardship.
Learn about the numbers and types of needed homes, as well as key considerations of where, how, and for whom.
