1000 Friends of Oregon is here to support you in your advocacy for good housing policy in your town or city. Jacky Lee and Anna Kemper are tasked with empowering community groups that are working to improve local housing policy and availability. Regardless of what stage of organizing you’re at, you can schedule a meeting with our Great Communities Team or fill out the Oregon for Everyone interest form.
Here are some tangible things we can offer:
- Write a letter of support for needed housing developments or policies in your town.
- Provide or develop educational resources around a specific housing policy focused on your city or town.
- Lead community organizing workshops or skills trainings.
- Collaborate on educational presentations, video series watch parties, or other community education efforts.
- Organize a walking tour of middle housing or accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in your community.
- One-on-one organizer brainstorming and feedback sessions.
If you have an established organization or advocacy group and are looking to boost your community organizing, campaign work, or communications skills, we can help. We have a menu of workshops and trainings that we offer, and are open to ideas and suggestions.
Need a good way to kickstart momentum on a local campaign or project? We can co-host a community education presentation on housing solutions and your local goals. Together, we can share practical solutions with your community and build momentum for ongoing collaboration.
One of the best ways to show your neighbors a clear vision of walkable, mixed-income neighborhoods is to show them existing examples in your town. We can help you strategize messaging and audience(s), plan your route, and help conduct the walking tour.
