Spend a few hours on the Defrees Ranch with 1000 Friends of Oregon and fifth-generation rancher Dallas Hall Defrees on Saturday, April 29, in Baker City. We’ll walk the ranch, learning about regenerative practices that have been employed on the land and a mine dredge tailing restoration project. After the tour, 1000 Friends will provide lunch in the barn, where local farmers, ranchers, and other invitees will share about regional land use themes and pressures.
The Defrees Ranch is a 2,000-acre Certified Century Ranch. Third-, fourth-, and fifth-generation family members operate the ranch, raising cattle and managing timberlands with sustainable management practices.
Attendees should expect to navigate uneven ground. There may still be snow, so please dress for the weather.
