Friends in the Central Willamette Valley are invited to join us on Saturday, June 1, for a personal tour of Lazy M Ranch near Crawfordsville with ranch owner and 1000 Friends of Oregon McCall Society member John Marble. It’s a full day of land use exploration and conversation, including a home-cooked chili and cornbread lunch.
Special guests include:
- Sam Diaz, executive director, 1000 Friends of Oregon
- Blair Batson, staff attorney, 1000 Friends of Oregon
- Greg Macpherson, board secretary & treasurer, 1000 Friends of Oregon
- Jim Johnson, land use and water planning coordinator, Oregon Department of Agriculture
Throughout the day, we’ll be discussing farming, forestry, ranching, wildlife, wildfires, groundwater depletion, and conversion of rural and working lands. We will also be providing an update about our current work on rulemaking to close the loopholes in Oregon’s statewide land use planning policies protecting agricultural lands (Goal 3) and forest lands (Goal 4) – an effort 30 years in the making, and one that will need your support in the year to come.
Spend a Saturday with some of the people at the heart of these issues while enjoying a beautiful day in the Central Willamette Valley!
This is a free, invitation-only event. If you live in the area and would like to attend, please email donor celebration director Wendy Mitchell, wendy@friends.org. Directions to the ranch will be shared once your RSVP is complete.
