Deputy Director
Mary Kyle has a long and distinguished career as an attorney specializing in Oregon's land use planning program. She has been affiliated with 1000 Friends of Oregon for 35 years, and as our Deputy Director, she serves as our senior staff attorney, our legislative lead, and as the person who oversees all of our program work.
Born and raised near Chicago, she earned her BA in Human Biology at Stanford and her JD at UC Davis, clerking for a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. It was in between her undergraduate and graduate work that she discovered 1000 Friends of Oregon.
In Oregon, Mary Kyle's favorite places are the North Coast and the Wallowas. Beyond Oregon, she loves the outdoors of Northern California.
When she's away from work, she spends time with her husband and daughters, and continues to explore the Pacific Northwest. She's an avid cross-country skier, cyclist, hiker, and reader.
