50 years guided by land use champions: Highlights in our 2024 annual report

By Sam Diaz |1.5-minute read

Our 2024 annual report is a special edition. We’re not just reviewing our impact over the past year; we’re looking back over 50 years. This year, we cover the milestone wins, the battles that left lasting marks on our land use system, and the people who have been part of this movement – sometimes from day one.

This is an all-out appreciation – for you who have joined us at rallies to push for smart urban growth, testified in support of farmland protections, carried a poster to protest exclusionary housing decisions, and made land use advocacy a part of your family legacy or contributed your hard-earned dollars to ensure we can keep doing this every year for the next 50 years.

This year was defined, again, by conversations about where semiconductor facilities should be built, how our urban growth boundaries serve our communities, and what it looks like to build the kind of housing Oregon needs in places that give real opportunity for everyone. Next year, we’re preparing for a major focus on housing solutions, transportation funding, and farmland protections.

I am so grateful to you and the thousands of Oregonians who have brought their time, talents, and support to this cause. It’s not every day – or every nonprofit – that gets to celebrate its 50th anniversary. This is a testament to the sacrifices, the grit, and the generosity of countless individuals who see the power of the collective good. Let us come together, celebrate, rest, recharge, and plan and advocate for the future we are excited to live in and be proud to pass on to the next generation.
