Why 1000 Friends will be there

Did you know that Oregon ranks 2nd in the world for IT load from data centers? (According to Cushman & Wakefield.)

You may be experiencing the downsides of this development firsthand: Maybe you live by data centers, drive by them, or pay for them (in higher water and energy bills or new local fees to keep your schools and libraries open). You may be experiencing some of the benefits: Maybe you or your family earn your livelihoods building them, or maybe you work in a new community program that the data center company donated to.

1000 Friends of Oregon’s mission is to make sure that data center development—and any kind of development—benefits you and Oregonians for generations to come. And if it doesn’t, we want to redirect resources to opportunities that do uplift Oregonians’ lives and livelihoods. We’re partnering with Oregonians around common-sense solutions to reign in data center giveaways, shut down some of the land use planning loopholes, and make sure this development is net-positive for you and communities across the state.

Information from event host (Oregon Wild)

Show up. Speak out. Push back.

After a sold-out first year, Rabble Rouser returns to the Crystal Ballroom for an even bigger night of movement-building, skill-sharing, and radical joy. Join activists, organizers, artists, advocates, and everyday people ready to fight for our communities, democracy, and planet.

This year, we’re thrilled to welcome back climate activist and drag artist Pattie Gonia as our special guest emcee and keynote speaker for the entire evening. Pattie will guide us through a night of bold conversations, hands-on workshops, joyful resistance, and community connection. Stick around for a show-stopping drag performance to close out the evening!

Everyone keeps telling us to stay informed and involved. Rabble Rouser goes one step further: we’ll show you how.

Whether you’re brand new to organizing or already deep in the work, Rabble Rouser is designed to help you plug into movements fighting for people and the planet while building the community we need to sustain ourselves for the long haul.

Expect practical skill-building, powerful storytelling, creative energy, and plenty of opportunities to connect with organizations and fellow rabble rousers from across the region.

Rabble Rousers, are you ready to get into good trouble? We’ll see you on August 23!
