Together, we can steward a better future with and for all Oregonians.
Partner with purpose
Smart growth is who we are
At 1000 Friends of Oregon, we work with Oregonians to build strong, livable cities and towns and protect family farms, forests, and watersheds from runaway sprawl.
Businesses across Oregon—especially those rooted in agriculture, forestry, and local economies—have long been part of our organization’s compass. Oregonians’ entrepreneurship, inventions, innovations, and determination are essential in pushing our land conservation and development to new heights and in ways that create high-quality livelihoods, connect the next generation with meaningful educational and career opportunities, and manage Oregon’s natural resources in ways that enable the long-term viability of the business and our statewide economy.
Host a gathering
Open your space—whether it’s a vineyard, business, or community venue—to bring people together. Partner-hosted events connect community members, policymakers, and advocates around major land use planning, conservation, and development conversations.

Why it matters
Protecting Oregon’s balance
Since 1974, 1000 Friends of Oregon has worked to uphold Oregon’s unique land use planning system—one of the first in the nation—designed to prevent sprawl, protect farm and forest lands, and create a future where we can all thrive.
This system has helped maintain a balance between thriving cities and rural landscapes, and a balance between healthy natural spaces and innovative local businesses. Today, that balance faces new pressures—from housing affordability to large-scale industrial development proposals on rural lands.
If you are an Oregon business committed to advocating for smart growth efforts in our state, please contact Sofia Baum, Membership Experience Manager.
