Jackson Schroeder is 1000 Friends of Oregon’s 2026 Gerhardt intern. He was born and raised in Portland and recently graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA with a bachelor’s in biology and environmental studies. He is excited to apply his scientific mindset to complex real-world issues. His main project is modeling the impacts of transit-oriented development (TOD) on climate and housing supply.
When he's not learning how to build an online TOD simulator, Jackson loves biking, hiking, performing standup comedy, and playing hacky sack. After this summer, he’s looking forward to volunteering with a regenerative agriculture nonprofit in Kenya then going to law school.
