Board member

Mac Cunningham is an affordable housing professional and advocate with nearly 10 years’ experience in community development and a background in community organizing and public policy. Originally from suburban Baltimore, Mac moved to Portland in 2019 in pursuit of his graduate studies in urban and regional planning. He was drawn in large to Oregon due to the state's historic land use planning program.

Ever since, he cannot imagine calling any other place home. Oregon's statewide land use programming helps preserve what makes Oregon special, and the work of 1000 Friends of Oregon is vital to protecting that. A believer in the "Housing Theory of Everything," Mac believes that through smart planning and strong community involvement, Oregon communities can deliver resilient communities with a range of housing options that are affordable to all Oregonians no matter their income.
