1000 Friends of Oregon is hosting a photo contest to showcase the state’s iconic farms, ranches, timberlands, and the people who steward them. We encourage photographers across the state—amateur, professional, and hobbyist—to submit images that celebrate Oregon’s working lands.
The Working Lands Photo Contest is open for entries starting September 15, 2025 and closes October 17, 2025.
What we're looking for
Beautiful, inspiring, impactful, and/or unique images of farms, timberlands, ranches, urban farms, and the people who work them. Images of barns, equipment, animals, and people in action working the land are all welcome.
What we’re not looking for: Images from national or state parks, recreational spaces, nature photography, or wild places. While 1000 Friends of Oregon works in environmental stewardship and conservation, this contest aims to specifically highlight farms, ranches, and other working lands. However, nature and farms are not separate entities. Images may depict the overlap of nature and working lands, as long as a working landscape is the focus. For example: An elk herd traversing over a fenced field, birds nesting in an orchard, etc. Please submit your image with a caption clearly stating that the image was taken on a ranch, farm, timberland, or other working land.

Prizes
One grand-prize winner will be featured on our special statewide postcard, which is mailed to our members across Oregon. The winner’s image will also be featured on our social media channels, website, and annual report.

The top five photos will be featured on our website and social media.
